Effects of Bicarbonate Addition and N:P Ratio on Microalgae Growth and Resource Recovery from Domestic Wastewater

Nutrient availability plays a crucial role in microalgae growth domestic wastewater. In this study, we investigated the impact of different nitrogen and phosphorus ratios (5:1, 10:1, 20:1, m∙m−1), addition inorganic carbon on nutrient uptake from Microalgae biomass achieved values ranging 0.54 to 1.41 g·L−1. The cultivation process had maximum removal efficiencies 83.7% for soluble chemical oxygen demand (sCOD), 74.0% total Kjeldahl (TKN), 100.0% ammonia (NH3) orthophosphate (PO43−). All NH3 PO43− concentrations wastewater without supplementation were completely removed fourth day cultivation. Moreover, no significant differences growth, removals observed between conditions with This study has shown feasibility growing any nutritional supplementation. Further investigations are required check long-term performance, energy requirements, economic viability system treatment production nutrient-rich agricultural applications.
